BERT NIEVERA

Bert Nievera, the lead singer of the Society of Seven in Hawaii and often dubbed the "Johnny Mathis of the Philippines," captivated audiences with his smooth, emotive voice. His popularity soared in the 1970s and 1980s, fueled by his television appearances and live performances.

Returning to the Philippines in the late 1970s, Bert and I collaborated on various projects. Our first venture was at the Playboy Club inside the Silahis Hotel on Roxas Boulevard, where I served as his musical director. We also shared the stage with Ms. Verni Varga in a series of Valentine’s Day shows. Later, we joined forces in California with Jonathan Potenciano and Julius Obregon for the Trilogy show. In 2013, we performed together at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City for a Christmas show with his son, Martin Nievera.
